“Go to Lemp – they’ll definitely be able to help you.” This can often be heard when something becomes more exceptional or difficult. We are a little proud of this, as this sentence accurately reflects our aim to offer our customers the best possible product for the specific application. Not just as a finished, off-the-shelf module, but as a real, individual solution.

“Steel. Made. Better.” describes this in three short words. We process steel into various products while continuously striving to improve the process.

That sounds easier than it really is. More than 100 years of experience, state-of-the-art technology, ambitious employees and a real enthusiasm for the product help us daily in achieving this goal.

To this end, tradition and technology are not contradictions for us, but ideally complement one another. For a family business in its third generation, figures determine our actions. But not only cash flow, EBIT and margin, but rather the number of teeth, the degree of hardness and the lateral runout.

We know what we have with our employees and are aware of this responsibility. We are proud of our location in Germany, in Remscheid, the center of the European tool industry.

Much has changed since 1906, but three important things have not: Our determination to provide the best possible quality, our excellent reputation and our love for our products – “Made in Germany”.

In short: Steel. Made. Better.

The sawsmith Gustav Adolf Lemp founds the company G. A. Lemp GmbH in Remscheid, Germany, beginning with the production of hot circular saw blades for steelworks and rolling mills. Quickly, the product range is expanded to include knives, mainly for agricultural machinery.

The export merchant Wilhelm Bühner takes over the company. The saw blades and knives continue to be sold both under the private brand “LEMP” and under various customer‘s brand names. Even then, the high quality level establishes the reputation of the products.

Ernst Bühner takes over management of the company. With numerous distribution partners worldwide, the company develops into one of the leading manufacturers of friction saw blades. The certified engineer runs the company with great success and is still active in the management today.

The company moves into the newly built production facility sized over 3,500 square meters. Since then, the production capacities have been multiplied through continuous expansions.

The location is extended by a further 2,500 square meters.

The new, architecturally exemplary office building is finished.

Thomas Bühner (BA) joins the company´s management in third generation. With a secure hand and openness to changing market conditions, niche products and challenges, the course is set for a permanently changing market.

The firm’s 100th anniversary is cause for a huge celebration – with the employees and their families, without whom the company’s development would not have been possible.

Our long-term employee Michael Hopfstock joins the management team.

The market and globalized trade require continual alignments to challenges and products. This is taken into account with a steady expansion of the product range, and is also reflected in the new slogan: “Steel. Made. Better.” The company is still fully owned and managed by the Bühner family.
